NELFUND ISSUES IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final reopening of its verification portal to give tertiary institutions another chance to complete their student verification exercise.

According to a statement released on Friday in Abuja by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the portal will be open from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Oluwatuyi explained that this short extension is meant to help institutions that are yet to verify their students complete the process and ensure that all eligible students are properly captured under the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan cycle.

“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” she said.

“Failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will lead to the affected institutions forfeiting their participation in the current loan cycle — which will sadly disadvantage their students, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the scheme.”

She added that for the sake of transparency and accountability, NELFUND will publish the list of institutions that fail to comply before the deadline.

Oluwatuyi also reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to promoting equal access to higher education for all Nigerian students through a transparent and inclusive loan management process.

This notice serves as a reminder to all tertiary institutions yet to complete the verification exercise to do so immediately — as this window marks the final opportunity before the portal closes.
