UNILORIN Achieves 100% NUC Accreditation for Academic Programmes
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has proudly announced that it has attained full accreditation status for 36 out of the 37 academic programmes submitted for evaluation during the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
This outstanding achievement was communicated through an official letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu was directed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN.
The accreditation report specified that while 36 programs received full accreditation, the Hausa program was awarded interim accreditation status, signaling a need for further review before full accreditation can be granted.
The Faculty of Education excelled, with all 17 programs fully accredited. Similarly, the Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Finance programs in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the Faculty of Management Sciences also achieved full accreditation.
The Anatomy program in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and the Computer Science program in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences secured full accreditation. Additionally, all programs from the Faculties of Environmental Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences were fully accredited.
The Faculty of Physical Sciences celebrated the accreditation of three programs, while the Faculty of Social Sciences had four programs accredited. In the Faculty of Arts, the Igbo program received full accreditation, and the Hausa program was granted interim status while pending full accreditation.
In response to this commendable accomplishment, Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, conveyed his immense satisfaction and pride. The University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun remarked that the announcement was met with excitement and a sense of fulfillment.
Prof. Egbewole also extended his gratitude to the Provost, Deans, and Heads of Departments for their unwavering dedication and hard work.
