Tinubu Approves Inauguration Of Committee On National Minimum Wage

 

FG Sets To Inaugurate Tripartite Committee On National Minimum Wage.

 

The Federal Government is set to inaugurate a 37-man Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage with a mandate to recommend a new National Minimum Wage for the Country.

 

A statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation says that the inauguration of the Committee is sequel to the approval of President Bola Tinubu.

The inauguration is therefore, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 30th January, 2024 by 12:00 noon at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja.

 

The membership of the Committee which cuts across the Federal and State Governments, the Private Sector and the Organised Labour will be Chaired by the former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Goni Aji.

 

Representatives from the Federal Government include, Minister of State, Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Wale Edu, Minister of Budget Economic Planning; Atiku Bagudu, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Dr. Yemi Esan,. Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of SGF. Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, Chairman/CEO, NSIWC, Ekpo Nta, will servev as Secretary.

 

Representatives from the State Government are; Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, representing North Central; Sen. Bala Mohammed, Governor Bauchi State- representing North East; Umar Dikko Radda, Governor of Katsina State, representing North West; Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, representing South East; Governor of Osun State-m, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, representing South West; Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Otu Bassey Edet, representing the South South.

Meanwhile, The following members are selected from the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA)- Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General, NECA; Mr. Chuma Nwankwo; Mr. Thompson Akpabio.

 

Members from the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) include Michael Olawale-Cole, National President; Ahmed Rabiu, National Vice President and Humphrey Ngonadi (NPOM), National Life President.
